Hey all!
Hope everyone is having a great start to 2020!! I pray this year is a year of strength and renewal.
This new year, I am really starting to try and focus on my fitness goals. Specifically, losing stubborn fat and instead gaining muscle. To accomplish this goal, I have mainly been focusing on core and cardio. I try and work out at least 15 minutes a day. I break this up into two sections: 10 minutes for core and 5 minutes for cardio. With my busy schedule, I find I usually can only get to a 15-20 minute work out per day. I use youtube fitness videos to get in a work out, specifically, Pamela Reif's 10-minute ab workout and Bowflex's 5-minute cardio blast. I also try to get in a dance class into my busy schedule where I can (this can be another great form of exercise and a fun art!).
For diet, I have found that a lower-sugar, lower-carb, gluten-free, and dairy-free meal plan have worked better for me. This diet helps specifically with my over-all thyroid health and skin health (specifically for acne). Eating less processed foods also help with losing stubborn fat. (Note: although this diet works for me, it may not work for you. This diet has been a culmination of years of experimentation and seeking medical advice. I am not a dietician or nutritionist.)
I always try to remember that I am striving toward health, not merely trying to have an "ideal" body type. It is important to take into account every aspect of your body when figuring out a new routine for you. In particular, what diet works for you, your BMI, the calories you eat in a day, etc. It is also important to remember that every person is different; what works for one person may not necessarily work for you.
This fitness/meal plan is something that I try to stick to daily, but I don't always succeed. Remember it's okay to have a cheat/rest day every once in a while! God calls us to rest and sometimes we just need to have fun!
