Hello you guys! This is the first blogpost from an ambassador! This post was written by Judah Neese! She is an amazing writer and friend! I hope you all enjoy!
I went to church camp last weekend and had the most amazing time ever. While I was there, one of the pastors talked about the story of Martha and Mary. Jesus came to visit them and Martha was running around cleaning and cooking while Mary sat at his feet. Martha "approached Jesus and said, 'Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her to help me.' And Jesus answered and said to her, 'Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.'" (Luke 10:40-42)
This spoke to me, I can relate to Martha in this situation. I like getting all my work done and all my problems sorted out, and then I'll go spend time with Jesus. But what Jesus says, is that we need to spend time in His presence first. That time with Him is what gives us what we need to do everything else. Being in His presence is good for our hearts, but a lot of the time, we get distracted and chase after other things before we chase after God.
When we get caught up in what we need to do, like Martha, we get overwhelmed. We focus on our problems so much that we forget to enjoy what's really important, the presence of God. This is something that everyone struggles with at some point. It's something we have to learn to overcome. But when we do learn it, and focus on God first, our lives become so much better.
God wants us to sit in His presence and enjoy His company. He blesses us when we spend time with Him and make room in our lives for Him. Spending time with Him first does not mean we ignore everything else, it prepares us for what lies ahead.
Matthew 6:33 says "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."
Psalm 34:10 "But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing."
Love you all!
Judah
